How we verify our data

Every platform in this directory is researched against the live web before it earns a listing — and re-checked in scheduled verification waves. Here is exactly how the sausage is made.

1. Every platform is checked against the live web

Before a platform appears here we confirm it is real and currently operating: we check the official site, recent news coverage, and at least one independent source. Each verified platform gets a recorded status — active, closed, merged, or acquired — plus founding year, headquarters, and country availability with a citation for where the fact came from.

2. Fees and payouts come from published sources

The fee shown on a platform page (and used by our fee calculator) is the platform’s own published seller/worker rate at the time we last verified it — typically from the official pricing or help page. Where a fee is tiered or varies by category we store the honest range, and where a platform publishes nothing we say nothing rather than guess. Every calculator result is labelled an estimate.

3. Dead platforms stay listed — as dead

When verification finds a platform has shut down (50 so far, from Getaround to EyeEm), we don’t quietly delete it. It is marked closed with a dated note and collected in our closed & defunct platforms list, so you never waste time signing up somewhere that no longer pays.

4. Re-verification and freshness

Listings carry a last updated date. Verification runs in waves by platform type — status, ownership changes, market exits, and fee changes are re-checked and the corrections logged. Major changes (a bankruptcy, a fee hike, a rebrand) are applied to the listing as soon as we learn about them.

5. Where AI helps — and where it doesn't

We use AI to search the web at scale during verification, to help research our guides and country pages from official sources, and to power the discovery search — but AI never invents a listing. Every platform in the directory resolves to a real company we checked, facts are stored with sources, every guide states that it was compiled with AI-assisted research and lists the sources it was built from, and the comparisons, rankings and take-rate statistics are calculated directly from our data.

6. Corrections

Spotted an outdated fee or a platform we should mark closed? Tell us — corrections ship quickly, and disputed facts are re-verified against primary sources.
