The journey, step by step

What happens on a real other gig app from sign-up to your first withdrawal, and how long each part takes. In total: 2 weeks to 4 months.

  1. Create your TaskRabbit account

Every earning app starts with an account tied to your real name and email. Here you sign up as a demo person, so nothing about you is used.

    Typical estimate About 5 minutes

  2. Log in to TaskRabbit

Real apps ask you to confirm your email and often turn on two-step login. Never reuse a password from another site, and only ever type it on the real site.

    Typical estimate A minute

  3. Complete your TaskRabbit profile

Your profile is your shop window: photo, headline, skills and price. Clients compare it with everyone else's before they pick you.

Typical estimate 30 to 90 minutes

  4. ID and background check

Apps that send you to people's homes or put them in your car check your ID, licence and record. It runs in the background and can take days.

From TaskRabbit's published rules Background checks usually take 3 to 10 days

TaskRabbit checks ID and runs a background check.

  5. Wait for TaskRabbit to approve you

Platforms control who joins. Some let you in instantly, others review profiles, vet applications or keep a waitlist when they have enough people.

From TaskRabbit's published rules A waitlist: days to months, with no guarantee

TaskRabbit: Waitlist. Only in active cities, US Taskers need an SSN for the background check, and registrations are processed only as local demand grows.

  6. Accept a job on TaskRabbit

Jobs are listed with pay, time and place. You accept the ones that fit and the app holds you to them.

Typical estimate Days to a couple of weeks for a first job

  7. Do the job

Follow the job checklist and mark each part done. Proof of completion protects you if there is a dispute.

    Typical estimate A few hours

  8. Get approved and reviewed

The client confirms the job is done and leaves a rating. Early reviews matter most: they decide who sees you next.

Typical estimate Same day to a few days

  9. TaskRabbit takes its fee

What the client pays is not what you keep. The platform fee comes off first, then your own costs.

    From TaskRabbit's published rules Instant

Fees on TaskRabbit: 0% - clients pay the service fee

  10. Wait for TaskRabbit to clear the money

New earnings sit as "pending" for a while so refunds and disputes can be handled. You cannot withdraw them yet.

Typical estimate Often a few days to a week

  11. Reach the minimum payout

Many platforms only let you withdraw above a threshold. Small tasks may mean several jobs before you can cash out.

From TaskRabbit's published rules One job is enough here

Minimum payout on TaskRabbit: No minimum, paid via Stripe.

  12. Withdraw from TaskRabbit

Pick a payout method and confirm. Bank transfers take a few days, wallets and instant cards can be faster but may charge a fee.

From TaskRabbit's published rules Usually 1 to 5 days to arrive

Payout methods on TaskRabbit: Direct deposit.
