The journey, step by step

What happens on a real surveys and micro-tasks from sign-up to your first withdrawal, and how long each part takes. In total: 8 days to 7 weeks.

  1. Create your DataAnnotation account

Every earning app starts with an account tied to your real name and email. Here you sign up as a demo person, so nothing about you is used.

    Typical estimate About 5 minutes

  2. Log in to DataAnnotation

Real apps ask you to confirm your email and often turn on two-step login. Never reuse a password from another site, and only ever type it on the real site.

    Typical estimate A minute

  3. Complete your DataAnnotation profile

Your profile is your shop window: photo, headline, skills and price. Projects compare it with everyone else's before they pick you.

Typical estimate 15 minutes of profile and skills

  4. Verify your identity

Most platforms check your ID before you can withdraw money. It stops fraud and is required by payment laws.

From DataAnnotation's published rules ID checks often take minutes, sometimes a day or two

    DataAnnotation checks ID.

  5. Wait for DataAnnotation to approve you

Platforms control who joins. Some let you in instantly, others review profiles, vet applications or keep a waitlist when they have enough people.

From DataAnnotation's published rules Application and vetting, often 1 to 3 weeks

DataAnnotation: Application and vetting. Pass a starter assessment (about an hour), be fluent in English, verify a government photo ID, and get paid through PayPal.

  6. Pass a qualification and pick a project on DataAnnotation

You pass a skills assessment first, then projects open up that match your skills (writing, coding, a language or a field of expertise). Work can stop without notice when a project ends.

Typical estimate Projects appear when your skills match: days to weeks

  7. Do the rating tasks

Follow the project guidelines exactly: compare AI answers, check facts and explain your rating. Quality checks decide whether you keep getting work.

Typical estimate Paid by the hour or task

  8. Get approved and reviewed

The project confirms the hour of tasks is done and leaves a rating. Early reviews matter most: they decide who sees you next.

Typical estimate Quality reviewers check your work

  9. DataAnnotation takes its fee

What the project pays is not what you keep. The platform fee comes off first, then your own costs.

    From DataAnnotation's published rules Instant

Fees on DataAnnotation: Hourly, from about $25/hr (general projects), more for specialist work

  10. Wait for DataAnnotation to clear the money

New earnings sit as "pending" for a while so refunds and disputes can be handled. You cannot withdraw them yet.

    Typical estimate Usually within days

  11. Withdraw from DataAnnotation

Pick a payout method and confirm. Bank transfers take a few days, wallets and instant cards can be faster but may charge a fee.

From DataAnnotation's published rules Usually 1 to 5 days to arrive

    Payout methods on DataAnnotation: PayPal.
