How to receive international payments with Payoneer
Payoneer solves the problem every freelancer outside the US and Europe hits - clients and marketplaces that only pay to US or European bank accounts. Here is how to set it up properly.
Open and verify your account
Sign up free at Payoneer with your national ID and proof of address. Verification can take a few days - do it before you need a payout, not after a client is already trying to pay you.
Get your receiving accounts
Once approved, Payoneer gives you receiving accounts - real account numbers in USD, EUR, GBP, and other currencies. To a client or platform these look like a normal local bank account, so anyone who can make a domestic transfer can pay you.
Connect your marketplaces
Upwork, Fiverr, Airbnb, Amazon, and many other platforms in this directory offer Payoneer as a payout method in their settings. Linking them takes minutes and payouts typically arrive in hours rather than the days a wire takes.
Withdraw to your local bank
From Payoneer you withdraw to your local bank account in your own currency. The conversion fee is up to 2 percent, so compare the rate against alternatives like Wise for large amounts - and withdraw in fewer, larger batches to minimize fixed fees.
Mind the dormancy rules
Payoneer charges a small annual fee on accounts with no activity for 12 months. If you stop using it, withdraw your balance rather than letting it sit.
